FAREWELL to SMALLWOOD and CARIBOU

Former Marine Atlantic Ro-Ro /Passenger vessels Caribou (2008 file photo) and J and C Smallwood (below) both called at Halifax for their final bunkering before their Atlantic crossing on 31st August 2011.
Good-bye to the Smallwoods, poor old Joe and Clara looks a bit bedraggled as she bunkers from Algoma Dartmouth in Dartmouth Cove on August 31st in preparation for her Atlantic crossing to Gibraltar. Name shortened to Smallwood and registered in St Kitts and Nevis. Sadly, she is probably destined for a breakers yard. She was followed later in the evening by Caribou ( Caribo) also in for a bunker stop. Not to be seen by us again, sadly. Two fine Canadian ships will be missed by many on the East Coast.
