Car carrier "Cougar Ace" abandoned 200 miles south of Adak island in the Bering Sea. All 23 crewmen rescued by United States Coast Guard and Alaska National Guard helicopters. Vessel loaded with over 5,000 Japanese cars bound for Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
This occured July 2006
Subsequently righted from an incredible list and salvaged,none the worse off evidently. Cars must have been write offs!.

  1. The Cars were apparently fine, though Mazda was concerend there may have been issues in the future due to them spending a prolonged time at an angle.

    They agreed with their insurance company to destroy them all.
