ASPHALT TRANSFER IN BEDFORD BASIN
Asphalt tankers ASPHALT EAGLE and ASPHALT SAILOR carried out a product transfer in the Bedford Basin on the 12th July and sailed early on 13th for American ports. This is the first such transfer operation which this blogger has witnessed here. A strange new activity indeed!

ALIKI stops in at Halifax
Bulk carrier ALIKI arrived in Halifax 2nd July from Europe enroute Sept Isles,P.Q. for iron ore.At 180,235 deadweight tons she is one BIG puppy. Why do all the gigantic ones have tiny names. Tug attending is ATLANTIC OAK.

CAPE BON in Basin Anchorage
Products tanker CAPE BON anchored in the Bedford Basin, Halifax week of June 10th 2014 . Typical of this type (refined products tanker) they are becoming a regular sight in the Basin since the Imperial refinery ceased its refining capability. The Basin and other harbour anchorages will continue to see this type of visitor as they await space alongside to discharge their cargoes.
