Cruiseship AIDALUNA called again at Halifax on 15th September,11,however photography was problematic with a thick fog in the harbour,so we have a file photo from last Sept 10,10 showing her departing from Pier 21 at George's Island.

AUTO CARRIER at AUTOPORT

Sweedish auto transporter OTELLO alongside at Autoport,Eastern Passage,Halifax on 14th Sept 2011. She later moved to Halterm and off loaded heavy crated kit before departing evening of 14th. Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering,Goeje,South Korea in 2006 and owned and operated by Wallenius Marine,Stockholm,Sweeden. IMO: 9316141

CRUISE SEASON in FULL SWING

Le BOREAL brand spanking new French cruise liner called at Halifax for I believe her first visit to the Port on 14th September 2011. Built by Fincantieri,Trieste,Italy 2010. LOA 142m Beam 18m. IMO 9502506 Flag: France Call Sign: FLSY. A rare bird in these parts is a French liner.

A regular visitor is the Holland-America liner EURODAM. Seen here at Pier 21 bunkering from Algoma Dartmouth on 14th September 2011. Built 2008. LOA 285 m Beam 32,2m. Registered in Netherlands with call sign PHOS.

Nice to see ARCADIA again 14th Sept 2011,not too frequent a caller at Halifax. The ship is registered in Bermuda (British) with call sign ZCDN2. LOA 285m Beam 32,2m Dr 8.1m. IMO No. 9226906.

GRAND MANAN ADVENTURE

New Grand Manan Island ferry,GRAND MANAN ADVENTURE has a number of teething problems being corrected at Halships. The vessel docked yesterday (Sept 13,11) in the NOVADOCK,looking rather small in the big Panamax floating dock. She is infact GRT at 6,580 tons. LOA 80.28 Beam 18.5 Depth 13.75 (meters). Built 2011 by Eastern Shipbldg.Grp.,Panama City,Fla.,USA. Owned by N.B. Govt. Flag: Canada Call Sign: XJAV.

Vessel scheduled to return to service within about a week. Nice little ship,hope all the defects get sorted out.

Container vessel ZIM VIRGINIA made another scheduled call at Halifax on 10th September 2011.Built 2002 by Hyundai Heavy Industries,South Korea. GRT 53,453 tons DWT 66,686 tons. Russian tanker PETRODVORETS which had been anchored off Halifax for some time finally entered harbour early on September 11th 2011. Built by Daewoo,S.Korea in 1999 the vessel is owned by SOVFLOTCOM,Moscow and managed by Unicom Management Services,Cyprus and registered in Liberia with callsign ELZP2. GRT 59,731 tons. DWT 105,692 tons. Net Tonnage 31,480 tons. LOA 248 LPP 243 Beam 43.0 Depth 21 Draught 14.3(m). Former name ASTRO SATURN (2001).
