JUMBO SHIPPING's heavy load carrier FAIRLANE arrived in the Bedford Basin on Monday April 4th with an unusual load, a newly purchased tug for the Rio Tinto Alcan operations at La Baie,Quebec. It will be interesting to see the off-load of this one as these lifts are usually carried out a Pier 9. a bit different when the load is to be placed in the aqua! Counter weights (pontoons) are placed on one side to facilitate the load imbalance as the cranes boom out. A tricky bit of work alongside,or at anchor.Monday, April 4, 2011
